Hello, my name is Joke van der Post, I’m originally from the Netherlands but now residing full time in Egypt, where I dedicate my life to helping the abused working animals (horses, donkeys, mules and camels).
I’ve worked with horses my entire life and always have been active in animal welfare.
In Giza, at the pyramids on the direct frontline we’ve opened up a 24hr emergency clinic with 3 full time vets on staff, and have essential equipment (x ray, ultrasound, scope, etc) to diagnose and treat on site. We have room for 25 admitted patients and treat others on outpatient basis (15-50 horses per day).
Operating in the conflict-ridden Giza pyramids area poses additional challenges, as many owners neglect injured horses. We’re actively engaged in education and presence to make a positive impact.
On a daily basis, we assist 15-50 horses dealing with various issues like saddle sores, wounds, colic, broken legs, and other injuries. Our compassionate outreach extends to donkeys, mules, and occasional camels seeking help. Regrettably, euthanasia is an unfortunate reality we face each day.
